The New Normal Charity | On mental health
Benjamin May and Jack Baxter met in 2015, in Ben's barber shop in London. As Ben was cutting Jack's hair, the conversation of these two strangers soon turned to the fact that Jack's dad had passed away 2 years earlier, and Ben's dad had recently been diagnosed with cancer. They became friends, and soon after Ben's dad passed away as well, they founded The New Normal Charity. A charity that offers free peer-to-peer support groups for grief and mental health. To date, TNN has hosted over 1000 free meetings in 25 different countries, for more than 8000 attendees. In this documentary, we're speaking to Benjamin and Jack about how they've managed to create a safe space for people to speak openly about their grief and mental health. We also speak to Amber about the importance of representation, and to Matt about vulnerability among men.
This film won third prize in the OCFA Charity Film Awards 2024 in London, UK.
