Speak
“What does it mean to be a man? Does it mean to be strong for others? To support? If men are always meant to be the pillar, the foundation, the rock. What happens when they crack? Or crumble?”
The short film Speak explores the topic of masculinity and vulnerability through dance and spoken word. By visualising the suppression and expression of emotions, Speak encourages boys and men to speak more openly about their own feelings and mental health. Dancer Lisa Frey asked me to direct this film together with her, to bring the concept to life in a visual way and direct the shoot whilst she was dancing together with Uri Eugenio in the piece herself.
Speak has premiered at the Justice Film Festival in New York City.
